Whale Watching trip to Hana Airfield at the Eastern Tip of Maui Island

In the late afternoon of this beautiful Christmas Eve we had the intuition that there might be whales at the eastern tip of Maui Island. We flew with two passengers to the tiny airfield at Hana (20°47′44″N 156°00′52″W) and parked the C-172. We walked less than a half a mile across vulcanic stones and sat down to see whales passing by. What an awesome experience!
